Lugarno Lions Club

lugarno 3 mil donationsThe Lugarno Lions Club celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday 17th May with a dinner dance at Club Menai.

On the night, Lugarno Lions President Mike Butler announced that over the past 50 years the club had donated well over $3 million to the local and wider community. Many organisations Lugarno Lions have worked with were in attendance, swelling attendee numbers to over 180.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for $30,000 to St George Hospital to purchase an Acute Care system for the Special Care Nursery and four RAD-57 handheld machines for the Birth unit. This was partly funded through an Australian Lions Foundation grant, which was greatly appreciated.

Angela Karooz, St George Hospital’s General Manager said "We really appreciate the support that Lugarno Lions has given us, not only through this donation but also the assistance they have given over many years."

The guest list included the Federal member for Banks the Hon David Coleman, State member for Oatley Mark Coure, councillors from Georges River Council as well as members of Lions Clubs across Sydney.

The Lugarno Lions Club is a very strong and active group of over 50 members who meet every month on the 2nd & 4th Thursday evenings at Club Rivers. If you’d like to know more about Lions you will find more details on their website and social media pages.
