Preschool Autism Education and Therapy Project

We Lions say that we make a difference and yes we do. We make a positive impact on people’s lives.

We can make a difference to families of autistic children.

I have personal experience within my circle of friends and family of the difficulties that young families with children who are autistic have to go through. Many young couples have had to sell their home and move in with parents so that they can find the funds required to provide vital early intervention therapy.

Research shows that this therapy has had tremendous success in developing the much needed social and learning skills for young children with autism spectrum disorder and that it can greatly improve a child’s chances of a normal life.

This project is just too easy. What will it cost your club? The answer is practically nothing, maybe a few postage stamps. You will be asked to make representations to government at all levels to increase financial support for Preschool Autism Education. The sponsoring club will be providing material to help you spread the word.

Lions, in 1925 we were challenged by Helen Keller to be knights for the blind; we are certainly that and much more. I believe that we should be champions for the disadvantaged:

Think of the endless possibilities of Lions tackling autism and becoming known for speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.

There are many disabilities that are crying out for champions. Let’s take them on one at a time and make a real difference. I commend you to vote yes to this motion.

Some people make the world more special just by being in it. I conclude that those people comprise of the Lions, Lioness and Leos that are here today. Thank you.
